What is Vempain

Vempain is a publishing system that supports page-maintaining as well as administration from both web-browsers as well as specially written client software.

The goal is to have a site that does not require any special coding/ HTML-knowledge in order to build and maintain rudimentary pages while supporting templates and add-on modules for simplifying the tasks.
Also one important facet has been the useability of the site to the casual browser in terms of intelligent URL´s (who wants to quote or remember such URL´s as http://www.somesite.com/getlatestpage.dll?pid=333444his=4545345234& that=64ERT35EF&session=WRSDFFSDS?) and minimizing the need of frames while still supporting the full plethora of web-site construction styles.

Vempain uses PHP (http://www.php.net/) on the web-server, mySQL (http://www.mysql.com/) as the database and the c/s-part is written in Java (http://java.sun.com/) in order to ensure as broad a support as possible for various platforms.
